Anitra Nelson has worked for many years in environmental sustainability as a researcher and lecturer at RMIT University (Melbourne). She is the editor of Steering Sustainability in an Urbanizing World: Policy Practice and Performance (Ashgate, 2007), which includes three chapters by her and one by Dick Copeman (‘Permaculture: design principles for urban sustainability’). Amongst work for nonprofit organisations, Anitra has provided research and advised on climate change policy for the Australian Conservation Foundation (ACF), as well as evaluating projects for ACF’s Asia Pacific Unit. She has worked for government agencies in Victoria, especially on community-based projects on urban planning, rural groundwater use and forestry. Anitra set up the Blue Mountains Fruit and Nut Tree Network.
