I used to be a medical researcher, Army Reserve Instructor, greenie and passionate home gardener. When the money for my research project dried up, I enrolled in a PDC. Driving home on the first day of the course I had an epiphany: here was the thread that could tie all these things together. I now work as a gardener and am starting to teach, with the view to teaching permaculture in the Hawkesbury. I run the Hawkesbury Organic Food Co-op, am a member of Permaculture Sydney West, and the Vice president of the Friends of the Australiana Pioneer Village Society, a group committed to retaining community ownership of this State Heritage listed site in Wilberforce. I grow vegies, fruit, chooks, too many flowers and milk a cow once a week (don’t worry – some one else milks her the other days!).
